Safeguarding is now an integral element of the Art therapist’s role. It is imperative that Art therapists carry out this function effectively and in accordance with legislation. You will learn:

 

• A recent historical context of child protection and how it has shaped today’s legislation.

 

• How to fulfil your safeguarding duties as part of today’s Children &Young People's workforce

 

• What to consider when conducting a risk assessment

 

• How to identify signs and symptoms of abuse in Children &Young People

 

• How to identify non verbal disclosures within art therapy

 

• How, when and to whom to make a referral
