Supervision Training

This course is intended for art therapists who are supervisors and for those who may be thinking about taking on this role. All levels of experience are welcome. Supervisory tasks may include clinical or managerial roles or both and supervisees may be experienced art therapists or students in training. The course will provide theoretical input by looking at different models of supervision.

We will look at aims and objectives of supervision, the role of the artwork and mutual expectations of supervisors and supervisees. We will introduce organisational concepts to help develop an understanding of dynamics that impact directly on the clinical work and the supervision task. Practical issues such as contract setting, implication of 'duty of candour' and the statutory framework will also be addressed.
