Going out & getting in: Art therapy on street outreach in Singapore... Aaron Leng at the International Art Therapy Practice/Research Conference
27 June 2019
“I am looking forward to learning from my international art therapy colleagues who work across a diverse range of specializations. I can’t wait to implement what I gain from the International Art Therapy Practice/Research Conference to enrich my art therapy practice!” Aaron Leng on the Inaugural Conference in July...
In his presentation at the Inaugural Conference in July, Aaron Leng will explore the experience of providing art therapy on street outreach with youth in public spaces in Singapore.
The presentation will address the ability of art to bypass cultural and societal norms, enabling the establishment of connections with people whose experiences on the street have often left them guarded and distrustful.
Aaron Leng provides art therapy across the forensic, residential, and community settings. Originally trained as a social worker, Aaron’s experience includes conducting street outreach, working with gang-involved youth, and operating an art therapy service within a juvenile institution as an intern. Aaron is a social worker / art therapist with Boys’ Town, a residential home for youth-in-need.
The International Art Therapy Practice/Research Conference will be held on 11-13 July 2019 at Queen Mary University of London, Mile End Road, London.
