Open days for prospective Council members
"The role of the HPC is to protect the health and wellbeing of people who use the services of its registrants. The Council has a strong ethos of public and service user engagement, transparency, inclusion and rigour in all its endeavours.
It has public protection at the heart of its functions. This year there will be two vacancies for registrant members of Council with terms starting in July 2011.
We are holding two open days for those considering applying for appointment to the HPC Council. The first of these is on Thursday 10 February at HPC's offices (Park House, 184 Kennington Park Road, London SE11 4BU). This will give prospective candidates the opportunity to meet members of the Council and Executive and understand more about the organisation. The open day will start with an informal lunch at 1pm and will end at 3.30pm. You may also wish to observe the Council meeting which starts at 10.30am on the same day and runs through to 1pm. The second event on Tuesday 1 March, 5pm – 7pm, will also be held at HPC's offices, although there will not be a Council meeting that day."
Advertisements for these roles will be published on the HPC's website and the Appointments Commission website during the first week of March. For further information about the role of a Council member, or to confirm your attendance at one of these open days, please call Louise Hart on +44 (0)20 7840 9711 or email louise.hart@hpc-uk.org

Art Therapy for Ghanaian students
Ghanaian students, especially those who come from poverty, receive no exposure to art education during their limited schooling. Art therapists Carrie Bradish and Benita von Stillfried plan to introduce art as a tool for communication and expression as well as to engage and strengthen the local community while raising the profile of PROFESA. They will do this through open art groups, painting murals inside and outside the school, photography projects and workshops. Most of the materials will be sourced locally and will be influenced by traditional crafts.
