Are you looking for a new career that involves creativity and personal growth? Whether you are starting to shape your professional path or want to change an established work career, this workshop will help you to find out if the profession of Art Therapy may suit your needs.
We will introduce the professional context of Art Therapy and its development. We will explain the basic concepts of Art Therapy and present case studies from our clinical work in psychiatry and with children. We will also give an overview of the various pathways available to train in Art Therapy and there will be a 'surgery' time at the end of the day to meet individually with one of the convenors to discuss your personal needs. The workshop will include lectures, small group discussions and case presentations.
Julie Burton has worked since 1993 as an Art Therapist, initially in Adult / Older Adult Mental Health Services, in acute and community settings. She also worked as part of the Group work Programme at The Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture. In 2004 she became Professional Head of Art Psychotherapy, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. responsible for the over all strategic planning and implementation of the Art Therapy service. She now works as a Clinical supervisor and private practitioner.
Cliff Free has worked as an Art Therapist since 2000 as Clinical Specialist within a Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service, Inpatient and community, Poole, Dorset. He was also the Lead Art Therapist for the Allied Health Professions, contributing to the Trust strategy. He also has extensive experience of working within schools for children with special needs. He is now the Lead Art Psychotherapist for a new 16-18 Adolescent Service for Portsmouth Primary Care Trust, and the BAAT Regional Co-ordinator, He is also Co-lead for the Art Therapy Practice Research Network for those working with Children, Adolescents and Families.
Cancellation Policy All cancellations must be submitted in writing to info@baat.org or sent via fax to 0207 837 7945. Cancellations made one month or before will be refunded in full minus £10 administration fee. Less then one month but more than 14 days before the course will be charged at 50%. Less then 14 days notice will be fully chargeable.
