RATs group (Regional Arts Therapists group) in Essex and Suffolk
The RATs group is a 'think tank' for all Arts Therapists working and living in Essex and Suffolk. The group provides support for all arts therapists working in differing settings as well as those looking for work and those who have retired from work. It is a friendly and informal group who meet quarterly throughout the year in varying locations across the 2 counties. We normally begin meetings at 12.30 pm, bringing lunch to share, and work through an agenda until 4.00 pm.
The idea of the group is to have somewhere where arts therapists can network and meet each other, share information and pass on skills to each other. It is a supportive group and offers a space where you can be heard and understood by other professionals. Further to this the group helps us to make sense of government polices that may affect our work and also try to understand changes in local policies.
The group is particularly open to recently qualified arts therapists and students, supporting them by enabling them to keep in contact with working arts therapists who may know of sessional posts and work available within the counties. The group is also open to those who work in statutory settings, in private practice and voluntary organisations.
The RATs group is not affiliated to any professional association and is independent of regional meetings set up by these associations.
