I have worked as an art therapist in adult mental health for the past 11 years in inpatient and community settings. For the past four years I have been head of an art therapy department in West London Mental Health Trust. One notable area of the department's recent work has been in developing forms of provision that support service users artistic, as opposed to 'patient' identity, in partnership with user led and other local arts organisations.
Last year I completed an M.A. in Organisational Consultancy at the Tavistock Centre. This has helped me to develop my understanding of and ability to work with organisational dynamics.
I am interested in psychosis and psychotic processes and have published one two papers on this theme. I have given occasional lectures on the trainings at Goldsmiths and the University of Hertfordshire and I currently teach on the BAAT foundation course.
I am standing for re election having served on council for one year. The main focus of my work so far has been to do with helping to develop the International Journal of Art Therapy: Inscape. During the year I joined Inscape's editorial board and I have also assisted in drafting a new operational policy for the journal. This is intended to support the development of its work and to strengthen its links with council.
