Biographical notes
 

Neil Springham

Neil first trained in fine art painting. He qualified in Art Therapy from St. Albans in 1988 and completed his MA in Art Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths in 1993. He has worked in all aspects of General Adult Psychiatry and has specialised in Drug and Alcohol services, both in the public and private sector. He currently is Head of Arts Therapies at Bournewood N.H.S. Trust, Surrey, working in the Psychotherapy Service and for the Drug and Alcohol Team. He began as a visiting tutor Goldsmiths in 1993 and now works on the Post Graduate Diploma, MA and on the Foundation. In conjunction with his focus in Addictions, Neil's special area of interest covers the processes involved in offering Art Therapy to People with Narcissistic and Borderline Personality Disorders. He co-runs the Art Therapy Practice Research Network. He continues to exhibit his own artwork. Neil has written extensively on Art Therapy with Substance Misusers in Inscape and in ' Art Psychotherapy Groups: Between Pictures and Words', (Ed Skaife, S. and Huet V.) 1998 and 'Treatment of Addictions', (eds. D. Waller & J. Mahony) 1999.
