Biographical notes

Neil Springham has a background in fine art and trained in art therapy in 1988. He has worked in and published on, adult mental health, addictions and personality disorder treatment. He was a course leader at Goldsmiths College, co-founded the prize winning Art Therapy Practice Research Network, worked on the editorial board of Inscape and has developed numerous CPD courses. He has a special interest in the legal aspects of art therapy and in peer review. He is currently Trust wide head of art psychotherapy at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and is developing work, in conjunction with Tate Britain, with parents and carers of those with mental health problems. He is on the editorial board of the new Arts and Health Journal published by Taylor and Francis. Neil has been elected twice as Chair of BAAT since 2005 and is keen to carry forward the work of Council to ensure that BAAT is fit to meet the challenges of the contemporary health environment.
