Representing Art Therapy at the Arts Action Summit in Washington, DC...

Our friends in the US were very busy last week celebrating Art Therapy as part of Creative Arts Therapies Week.  An Arts Advocacy Day National Arts Action Summit was held in Washington, DC where the American Art Therapy Association was represented by AATA Executive Director, Cynthia Woodruff and President, Dr. Donna Betts.

This annual event provides attendees with advocacy training and an opportunity to attend coordinated visits with Members of Congress. Hosted by Americans for the Arts in partnership with over 85 national arts-related organizations, Arts Advocacy Day is the largest gathering of its kind, bringing together a broad variety of civic and cultural groups in the US. Grassroots
advocates from across the country gathered in Washington to garner support for issues related to funding for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), arts education policy, and more.
