Art Therapy Foundation Courses

This course is intended for people who may consider Art Therapy as a career, and want to train as an Art Therapist. It is also useful for healthcare workers who want to gain a better understanding of Art within a care context. This course will offer an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Art Therapy with different client groups, as all speakers are experienced Art Therapists presenting clinical work from their own art therapy practice.  It also has an experiential element, as Art Therapy experiential workshops are also included. No previous formal experience of art making is required, but it is important to be prepared to take part in artwork.

See this video which is a record of a collaborative piece of work produced by students on an Art Therapy Foundation Course run by BAAT in April 2011. The artwork most likely doesn't physically exist any more but the video is very much alive. Wet glistening paint fresh with emotion and exploratory strokes, an aesthetic open book to enjoy. The iphone footage is raw and shaky offering a roving view of the work in progress. The soundtrack was written and recorded some years ago by one of the artists. For him personally the painting and lyric content marry well.

Please note: all BAAT events are advertised well in advance and are very popular. To avoid disappointment because the course you want to do is full, please book early. We do not reserve places until we have your application form and payment, so please plan accordingly. If you are applying through your employer or training department, please send us a copy of your application form directly as some departments have been so slow to process these that courses have been full by the time your form arrived. Do not book travel until you have received confirmation of your place from the BAAT office. Thanks.

Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be submitted in writing to info@baat.org or sent via fax to 0207 837 7945. Cancellations made one month or before will be refunded in full minus £10 administration fee. Less than one month but more than 14 days before the course will be charged at 50%. Less than 14 days notice will be fully chargeable.

Booking confirmation and course welcome correspondence will be sent via EMAIL and so if after sending your booking form you feel you haven't heard from us please check your junk mail just in case! (and set the BAAT email address to always allowed so future emails won't get stuck).
