For the last fourteen years I have worked as an art therapist in adult mental health in inpatient and community settings. Since 2002 I have been head of an art therapy department in West London Mental Health Trust. The department has done a lot to develop provision that integrates arts and health and social inclusion approaches with 'conventional' art psychotherapeutic treatment.
I have a strong interest in the workings of organisations. In 2006 I completed the MA 'Consultation and the Organisation' at the Tavistock and I am interested in developing art therapy approaches in this area. I am also active in cross disciplinary work in my workplace organisation.
I have served on Council for the past three years. During this time my main focus has been helping to develop the new operational policy for Inscape and since November 2007 being its editor in chief. From this position I have continued to develop the journal, its procedures and its links with Council as well as taking part in general Council business. (Details of Inscape developments over the past year are in the Chair's report). While the role of Inscape editor is an independent one, I feel that my formal link with Council business as a voting member has been valuable in informing the work of the journal and of Council and I would like to continue serving in this capacity over the coming year.
